Toronto Based Artist and Photographer Salma Khan

About Salma Khan

Salma Khan is a Toronto-based artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Ontario College of Art and Design. During her academic years, she actively participated in numerous exhibitions. After graduating, she embraced motherhood, which led her to selectively participate in exhibitions while balancing family life.

Salma’s artistic journey is rooted in experimental photography and mixed media, where she explores the intricate relationships between objects and the conversations they evoke. Her work delves into themes of human and animal rights, politics, cultural perceptions, and the multi-dimensional aspects of existence, creating thought-provoking pieces that invite deeper reflection.

Influenced by iconic artists like Jenny Holzer, Shirin Neshat, David Wojnarowicz, and Umberto Boccioni, Salma’s work challenges perceptions and ignites conversations on social and cultural issues. Through her art, she strives to highlight the connections between humanity, nature, and the world around us, fostering a greater understanding of the shared experiences that shape our lives.

Salma continues to develop her practice, participating in selective exhibitions and creating artwork that resonates with audiences on multiple levels, all while advocating for meaningful change through her visual storytelling.
